Price Increase for CoREZYN® and Silmar® Products

Interplastic Corporation announced today that it will raise the price of CoREZYN® and Silmar® brand polyester resins, vinyl ester resins, gel coat, colorants and bonding compounds by $0.06 per pound. This increase will take effect for all shipments on or after July 7, 2018.

Costs have risen due to tight supply of key raw materials across many products, as well as rising freight costs. Interplastic is working closely with suppliers to reduce the impact of the increases and maintain supply to support our customers’ growth.

Interplastic Corporation Management Reorganization

Effective May 1, 2018 Interplastic Corporation announced the reorganization of some of its Management staffs. This reorganization will prepare Interplastic for our next phase of growth while striving to better support our customers.

Two new Vice President positions will lead the Interplastic commercial teams: Steve Wetzel, Vice President of Sales; and Peter Surmak, Vice President of Marketing. As Vice President of Sales, Steve will direct the entire Interplastic sales force, regional managers and Marketing Communications Manager. In his new position of Vice President of Marketing, Peter will oversee all aspects of product line and business management including responsibility for CIPP, Gelcoat, Bonding Compounds, Colorants and Vinyl Ester Engineering Resins.

Also effective May 1, 2018 is the promotion of Damon S. Brown to Business Manager – Vinyl Ester/Engineered Resins. With Peter’s move overseeing all product and business management, Damon will be responsible for managing all aspects of the vinyl ester and engineered resins business.

IP Corporation Announces Bob DeRoma Retirement (04/19/2018)

IP Corporation Announces Bob DeRoma Retirement

Following a distinguished career of more than 30 years IP Corporation announced today that Senior Vice President Bob DeRoma is retiring May 1 and will be supporting the Corporation in strategic assignments.

“Over the past 30 years, Bob oversaw dramatic growth across IP Corporation. When Bob arrived, Interplastic was a 2-manufacturing plant operation and now operates seven sites,” said IP Corporation President & CEO Jim Wallenfelsz. “North American Composites grew from 4-5 warehouses to 30 sites today and Molding Products doubled the size of their footprint.”

Beyond his career at IP Corporation, Bob was a tireless contributor to industry organizations. He was instrumental as Composites Institute Chairman in the formation of the ACMA organization from its predecessors, the SPI-Composites Institute and the Composite Fabricators Association. He also served on the ACMA Board of Directors from 1999 – 2004 and received the Presidents Award in 2004.

Effective May 1st, Reagan Stephens will be Senior Vice President & COO for IP Corporation. Reagan has served the past seven years as Vice President of Operations and General Manager for Interplastic and more recently in the same capacity for IP Corporation.

Interplastic Corporation today announced the launch of the 2018 Scholars Award Program sponsored by Interplastic Corporation in affiliation with the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and The International Cast Polymer Association (ICPA) .

To be eligible for a Scholars Award, the applicant’s parents, legal guardian, or the student must be employed by an ACMA or ICPA member company and the student must be planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university. The selection of the Scholars winners is based on the individual’s personal merit and financial need. Six scholars will be selected and we are excited to announce this year’s award winners will again each receive $3,500 to be used towards tuition and/or required books, supplies and equipment.

For those interested in applying, an application can be found on the Interplastic Corporation website along with additional information regarding the 2018 Scholars Award Program. The application deadline is May 4th, 2018.

Steve Wetzel, National Sales Manager announced that Tim Watts has joined the Interplastic Corporation sales team as a Sales Representative. Tim will be responsible for managing sales in Florida and South Georgia.

Tim comes to Interplastic with 30 years of composites experience, primarily in the marine market. He spent many years with Sea Ray/Brunswick Corporation, and most recently has been with Vectorworks. His experience includes project management, product development, lamination management and sales. Tim is also certified as a Lean Six Sigma.

Interplastic Corporation Announces 2017 Scholars Award Winners

Bob DeRoma, IP Corporation’s Senior Vice President, today announced the 2017 recipients of the Scholars Award sponsored by Interplastic Corporation in affiliation with the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and the International Cast Polymer Association (ICPA).

The six well-deserving high school graduates and their company affiliations are:
Daniel Liu, Apex, NC (Reichhold); Andrew Selm, Brookville, IN (Superior Oil Company); Blake Murray, Osceola, MO (United Initiators); Olivia Gohman, Sutherlin, OR (Orenco Systems); Sarah Pham, McPherson, KS (Johns Manville); and Maria Vetrano, Cleveland, GA (Agco Marble). This year we were excited to announce an increased amount for each winner of $3,500 to be used towards their studies at a four-year college or university of their choice.

This is the seventeenth year Interplastic Corporation has awarded the scholarships. “These young adults have gone above and beyond in their studies, school activities, volunteer services, community activities and more,” said Bob DeRoma, “We were so impressed with this year’s group that we decided to increase this year’s scholarship amount.”

Chris Deel Joins Interplastic Corporation as Senior Sales Representative

Steve Wetzel, National Sales Manager announced that Chris Deel has joined the Interplastic Corporation sales team as a Senior Sales Representative. Chris will be responsible for managing sales in Ohio, eastern Michigan, western Pennsylvania and a small portion of western New York and West Virginia.

Chris comes to Interplastic with 25 years of experience in the composites industry including manufacturing, technical and distribution positions. He has managed a variety of composite fabrication shops and has tremendous application experience. Most recently he has been with SCIGrip Structural Adhesives as Regional Sales Manager. Chris is also certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

Interplastic Announces New CoREZYN NSF Approved Vinyl Ester Resin (06/20/2017)

Interplastic Announces New CoREZYN® NSF Approved Vinyl Ester Resin

Interplastic Corporation today announced its new CoREZYN vinyl ester resin approved for use in potable (drinking) water pipe and tanks. CORVE8300DW is a corrosion resistant, vinyl ester based resin that is NSF/ANSI 61 certified. CORVE8300DW has the industry’s highest approval for use in piping greater than, or equal to, ½ inch inner diameter and tanks greater than, or equal to, 150 gallons. It is manufactured from ingredients listed as acceptable in FDA Code of Regulation Title 21, CFR 177.2420 and may be safely used as a component of articles intended for single or repeated use in contact with food as prescribed in the regulation.

“We are excited to add another great product to our 8300 series offering of corrosion resistant resins”, said Peter Surmak, Business Manager. The new CoREZYN product can be used in desalination piping and equipment, public drinking water systems and storage tanks containing chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite (bleach), acids and bases. (St. Paul, MN – June 23, 2016) Bob DeRoma, Senior Vice President announced that Harry Certain has joined the Interplastic Corporation team as the Gel Coat Business Manager. Harry will be replacing Jim Luke who is retiring July 5, 2016. “Jim has made a significant contribution to the growth of Interplastic gel coat business which he led for the past 16 years” said Bob.

Harry comes to Interplastic Corporation from 3M where he was a Global Business Manager within the Materials Science Division. He has also worked for Protective Chemistries, Bellcomb Technologies, Inc., and H.B. Fuller Company where he worked as a Business Development Manager.

CIPP Resins Designed to Renovate Pressure Pipes

(St. Paul, MN – June 16, 2016) Interplastic Corporation announced the release of a full line of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) resins designed to renovate pressure pipes. These resins are designed to be used with liners containing a reinforcement component. Flexural creep retention factors tend to be higher than normal with these resins and short term burst test results have been impressive. These resins are designed to wet out the liner in an efficient manner and to gel and cure comparable to standard CIPP resins.
