Silmar brand and CoREZYN brand specialty products are offered in many different variations for a variety of market and product applications including; Acylic Bonding, Bowling Ball, Deburring Chips, Filament Winding, Flexible, Grating, Rotational Molding, Tooling and Low Profile, Low Shrink Additives.

Acrylic Bonding

This is a low reactivity, unsaturated polyester especially designed for excellent adhesion to acrylic sheeting. It is used as a component of the glass reinforced laminate backup for rigidizing acrylic sheeting in swimming pools, spas, and tub/shower stall units. This product has low exotherm, moderate hardness development, good wetting of various types of fillers, and good dimensional stability.

Bowling Ball

Interplastic resins are used in the cores and shells of bowling balls. The core resins are designed to accept high filler loadings. They are also crack-resistant and allow for a fast de-molding time. The shell resins are inherently tough and have a controlled exotherm so the shell will not crack during processing. Once the resin is cured, the balls are extremely durable. Our resins are also used in the manufacture of other kinds of sports balls such as croquet and bocce balls.

Deburring Chips

The Silmar® SIL97 family of resins was specifically developed for deburring (tumbling media) chips. They have good curing properties to minimize residual monomer and you can expect excellent wear and bite rates.

Filament Winding

COR27 is a non-Isophthalic filament winding: unsaturated polyester resin that is promoted, offered with a variety of viscosities and thixotropic indices to meet customer's needs. These resins are specifically designed with excellent glass wet-out for the filament winding process and to meet key performance properties like gel time, exotherm, HAP content and other key properties like corrosion, toughness, stiffness, FDA approvability, UV stabilized as requested.

Flexible

A medium viscosity, nonpromoted flexible polyester resin, it may be added to other more rigid resins to produce enhanced toughness and flexibility. NOTE: this resin is not compatible with some resins containing neopentyl glycol.

SIL05BB-465 is a specifically prepared for room temperature fabrication of plaques, furniture trim and simulated wood parts. It has a minimum tack plus toughness and flexibility to withstand handling and shipping rigors. Various fillers may be used with this resin, such as talc, calcium carbonate or light weight micro balloons. Depending on the type and amount of fillers used, finished goods will display different degrees of flexibility and weight. This resin can be blended with other Silmar resins to develop tougher surfaces. SIL05BB-465 contains wax.

Grating

Unsaturated polyester resin that is typically promoted, resins range COR25 Series from low to high reactivity and a variety of viscosities to meet customer's needs. These resins are specifically designed with excellent glass wet-out for the grating processes to meet key performance properties like gel time, viscosity and other key properties like corrosion, toughness, stiffness, FDA approvability, UV stabilized... as requested.

Rotational Molding

Tooling

COR70-DA-759 is a non-promoted, unsaturated polyester resin designed for use in filled tooling composite systems. This resin has low viscosity at 50% alumina trihydrate (R.J. Marshall RC822 or equivalent) filler loading, which allows easy wet-out of fillers and consistent spraying ability. The fast cure rate and minimal shrink in the final composite allow fabricators quick and precise tool reproduction. CORVE8153 skin coat resin and CoREZYN® O-122VE-T vinyl ester gel coat are recommended for use in conjunction with COR70-DA-759 to ensure maximum service life of the tool.

CORVE8153 is a promoted, thixotropic, high heat distortion temperature (270°F/132°C), vinyl ester resin for use in the manufacture of master tools and molds.

Low Profile, Low Shrink Additives

This is a low profile additive based on polyvinyl acetate in styrene. It is useful for preparing zero shrinkage or expansion (Class A) formulations for SMC and BMC.

SIL20LP-846 is a low profile additive with styrene. It is useful for preparing zero shrinkage or expansion (Class A) formulations for SMC and BMC. It is also used in low-profile RTM applications.
